Wake Up Like A Butterfly

I was thinking about how sometimes we like to sleep in a cocoon of blankets. Or what some people call a “blanket burrito”. I tuck in each side of the blankets on either side of me and under my feet until there is no possible way for cold air to seep into my perfect cocoon I just formed for myself.

Once morning comes, the worst part is emerging from your nest into the cold air of your room. All cold and hunched over looking for warmer clothes or a robe to cover yourself. Sometimes you even keep a blanket wrapped around yourself because you’re just not ready to come out yet.

I believe that this cocoon, or chrysalis we form is also a mindset. Sometimes this mindset doesn’t leave all day and you’re living in this continuous cocoon. Always looking forward to when you get to take a nap or go back to sleep. Always waiting for the weekend.

Here’s a thought. Instead of staying in your mindset of a cocoon, try waking up everyday like a butterfly. When a butterfly emerges from its chrysalis, it can’t wait to go out, explore, and see the world in a whole new way. We as humans, are given this opportunity everyday and are not taking advantage of this. Try to wake up every morning as if you were a butterfly – as if this has been the day you’ve been waiting for, for a long time. You might be amazed at what you discover.
